Forget your checkered blanket and wicker basket. This new Nolensville business has raised the bar for your picnic game.
Lifelong friends Jessica Chambliss and Angely Bailey launched Sittin Pretty Luxury Picnic Designs this summer, and they want to bring your Instagram picnic visions to life. With intimate table settings on comfy cushions, a boho tent for glamping, and a private movie screen, the opportunities are endless for picnic themes.
The two brainstormed the idea over their weekly Wednesday breakfast when Chambliss said she’d like to do the picnic rentals when she eventually moved to Florida in the coming years. Then her best friend since 1st grade posed an idea: Why don’t they just do it now — together?
“We’ve done life together. We just never have thought about a business venture together,” Bailey said, who is a dental hygienist in Nolensville.
So the two pooled their money and several thousand dollars later, they have a storage unit packed full of their luxury picnic gear.
“It was like Christmas every day,” Chambliss said. “We were getting packages left and right.”
They posted photos on their Facebook page, and business took off with birthday parties, a Father’s Day tea and date nights.
The two women handle all set up and cleanup and are dreaming up future ideas for their business, including plans to soon partner with a charcuterie business to supply food and hopes of purchasing a heated igloo for winter months.
“We think this could be a full-time gig one day,” Chambliss said.
How it works
While based in Nolensville, Chambliss and Bailey service Middle Tennessee counties near Nashville. The rental is for two hours, and each additional hour is $50. They do bookings on their Facebook page.
Pricing starts at the following:
- One adult table for two: $150; $20 for each additional guest up to six
- One child table for eight: $175; $10 for each additional guest
- Two adult tables for seven: $300; $20 for each additional guest up to 12
- Three adult tables for 13: $450; $20 for each additional guest up to 18
The rental includes all equipment needed for a bougie picnic. The glamping tent and movie screen rentals are extra.
